Genetic Superpower

International Rivalry in the Age of Weaponizable Biotechnology

forthcoming Oxford University Press

Genetic Superpower explores how advances in genetic engineering could transform international politics and warfare. As the building blocks of life become instruments of power, genetic technologies may complement, rival, or even exceed traditional forms of strategic capability. Drawing on original research across the United States, China, Russia, and India, Yelena Biberman examines the emerging possibilities and risks of genetic weapons—and proposes a “grand strategy of peace” for governing this new era of technological power.
